Waiting at the SF Airport

I arrived in London early yesterday afternoon. After sitting around the airport for 7 hours, the 11 hour flight actually didn't seem that long. I had been planning on sleeping for the majority fo the flight, but ended up wataching Julie and Julia and a travel film on London, and playing computer games. While on the flight, I discovered that international flights have many more amenities for passengers than domestic flgihts, but a great deal less leg space. I also found out that flying is conducive to sleep; I ended up getign 1 1/2-2 hours of sleep.

After arriving at Heathrow and going thorugh passport check, baggage claim, and customs, the entire group boarded the coach for the half hour trip to our flat. The nice thing about our building, Lanward Court, is that it is centrally located. There are a number of cafes, grocery stores, pubs, underground stops, and shops nearby, which should be very convenient. The flat that I'm living in with four of my friends is located on the building's 10th floor.

After unpacking, I went ot the underground station to purchase an "Oyster card" which can be used on all London public transit. On the way back, my flat mates and I stopped by the grocery store to purchase some food staples. Because nobody had gotten very much sleep during the flight, we elected not to dine out and, after making dinner, went to bed early.

This morning, Liz and I made our second trip to the grocery store (did I mention that I'm glad it is so close?). I started to make a cinnamon coffee cake for breakfast this morning only to realize that I didn't ahve the bron sugar it required. Fortunately the store was open, and sugar in hand, we went back to the flat to finish making breakfast.

Our group is meeting at 12 pm today to walk over to the classrooms. This afternoon the class will head to Trafalgar Square, followed by a tour of Westminster Abbey. We should be through with the group activities by 5 or 6 pm, so it looks like my flat mates and I will be dining out tonight. Our bed room. I get the bottom bunk.
